I didn’t expect any profound thoughts at 5:35 AM yesterday morning when I got home from my morning exercise. I planned to wake the boys and settle in a morning routine. I sat down on the edge of Samuel’s bed and began to brush the blond bangs off his forehead when the thought struck me: He looks like me. His forehead is broad with prominent bones. And his nose as much as I’ve denied this for years, does turn up at the end. Immediately I wondered, does God look at me and see the image of Christ?
Max Lucado says in Cure for the Common Life, “You are more than statistical chance…, more than a confluence of inherited chromosomes and more than a walking weather vane whipped about by the cold winds of fate. Thanks to God you have been “sculpted from nothing into something” Psalms 139:15
Oh, that my outward appearance reflects the inner occupancy of Christ!
Oh! to be like Thee, blessed Redeemer,
This is my constant longing and prayer;
Gladly I’ll forfeit all of earth’s treasures,
Jesus, Thy perfect likeness to wear.
Oh! to be like Thee, full of compassion,
Loving, forgiving, tender and kind,
Helping the helpless, cheering the fainting,
Seeking the wand’ring sinner to find.
Oh! to be like Thee, lowly in spirit,
Holy and harmless, patient and brave;
Meekly enduring cruel reproaches,
Willing to suffer, others to save.
Refrain:
Oh! to be like Thee, oh! to be like Thee,
Blessed Redeemer, pure as Thou art;
Come in Thy sweetness, come in Thy fullness;
Stamp Thine own image deep on my heart.

Also I'm with Dorcas on this one...I had to read the TIME YOU RETURNED (?) FROM EXERCISE 3 TIMES! Oh to have willpower to get out of bed before I have to...TO EXERCISE!?!?
And I echo all the sentiments....VERY amazing to come home from exercising at that hour. But I am SO happy you are able to exercise...and that, too, is a very good reminder for me that exercise is a gift!
