We returned home to a warm house this morning about 1 AM, thanks to our neighbors who came over and turned our heat up. But after a trip that included temperatures of -29 degrees below zero (NOT wind chill) our house temp of 49 degrees may have even felt toasty!
Coming back to Atlanta was bittersweet...good to be at home and yet we brought along a hollow sadness and a void in our hearts that will never be replaced. I found this poem in David's paternal grandmother's Bible this morning and it brought a ray of sunshine to my heart.
Don't think of him as gone away
His journey's just begun
Life holds so many facets
This earth is only one
Just this of him as resting
From the sorrows and the tears
In a place of warmth and comfort
Where there are no days or years
Think of how he must be wishing
That we could know today
How nothing but our sadness
Can really pass away
And think of him as living
In the hearts of those he touched
Fro nothing loved is ever lost
And he was loved so much.

Many have asked that I post David's tribute to his father here and I'll try to do that within a day or two. Thanks so much for your prayers and notes of support.

We understand the void in your hearts, but like the Word says, "Weeping endures for a night, but joy comes in the morning!"
The Lord will give you many opportunities to minister comfort to others with the same comfort that you received after Don's homegoing. (II Cor. 1:3-5) We know you're experiencing the comfort of the Holy Spirit in a very real way during this time! Joy will come ............you just wait and see!
We all love your precious family so much!
Much love,

Isaiah 41:10
"If you could see me now, I'm walking streets of gold, If you could see me now, I'm standing tall and strong, if you could see me now, you'd know the pain's erased, if you could see me now, you'd know I'd see His face, you wouldn't want me to ever leave this place, If you could only see me now."
I love you and think of you often. Hope to talk with you soon.
