Spirit Week

This week is spirit week at school since this Friday night is Homecoming. Each day has a different theme. Yesterday was "tacky day." David was SO tacky, it hurt to look at him. All I could say was, "eeek." And the littles...they were just smaller versions of the BIG tacky! David reported that he wasn't among the MOST tacky either. Imagine that.

Both of the boys have been chosen to represent their classes in the elementary homecoming court. Samuel has such a tendency toward shyness that when he told us that he was chosen, he cried like he had to donate an arm and leg! Such crying! "I will look like such a dork in a suit on a football field," he said.

Zachary wasn't very happy either but he was concerned about whether or not he would actually have to hold the hand of the fifth grader that he is escorting (I imagine that will become less of a concern in a few years). However he felt relieved that only her arm would be linked through his but mostly that she wasn't taller than him!

I have good, good news. I had a follow-up appointment yesterday with the doctor and the test of my ovary shows the cyst to be smaller than it was on CT. It also appears to be less worrisome. I am to see a specialist but I am really encouraged and excited to share that with you!

Thanks for the responses about Christmas. I know that it is early to be talking "Christmas" but I am always looking for ideas to implement more focus on Christ into the season. I have been doing some research on it and I'll try to share some soon.

Looking forward to seeing that picture! I have a feeling someday soon you and I will be wishing for the days when our three sons thought holding a girls hand was gross..."-) That is just too cute.

SO HAPPY for your good news, thank the Lord, still think doctors shouldn't scare people like they do, just wish they could somehow wait and break news as it needs to be broken, instead of warnings and then making you wait!

Homeschooling Curriculum Help?

Shannon is hosting a backwards edition of what-works-for-me Wednesday , where you can ask for advice/ or suggestions instead of giving them. Yeah! I need some advice. David and I are really praying and considering homeschooling our boys, K4 and grades 2 and 6 —beginning this fall. Can anybody recommend a curriculum, either as a whole or as a subject, that you are crazy about that doesn’t make you crazy? Secondly, if you could give one tip for “survival” what would that be?

February 27 Update

I just called to see if Amy wanted to blog anything today, but at the moment she is talking on the phone to her wonderful friend, Deb Rose. Deb and her husband, Brian, used to live in Louisville several years ago. They were our very best friends. If I were talking to the Roses this evening, I would tell them that Amy is desperately scared. The docs have given her a very stiff dose of antibiotics, but as of this moment, her body temp is climbing once again. Her primary doctor told her he fears that this infection may be fungal in nature. I don’t completely understand all of the implications, except that we are shooting at this infection with our biggest guns, but it just keeps on coming. In her introspective manner, she shared with me today that if she had known she would lose her sight, she would have invested it more wisely in the things she read and watched: “What if I go completely blind and can’t read the Bible? I have to get more serious about memorizing.” This morning a do

March 2: HOME!!

From his vantage point at our front door, three-year old Seth delightedly shrieked, "Mommy," and I turned in time to see Amy being driven down our long driveway. Our three blond-haired boys buried their faces in their mother. Even the house sighed contentedly. Amy's home. A Happy Husband, David
