Oh My Dear Friends!

This morning, as you are aware if you read David’s last blog, a small church in Oklahoma City had prayer for me as my close friend Twila was anointed in my place. As David and the boys wrapped their arms around me and we 4 prayed with that band of believers, the Sprit of God hovered close to our home at about 11:00 AM this morning. Mrs. Troyer spoke to the congregation about how she had prayed for me during the night as she would for one of her own daughters, and admonished us/them to touch the hem of Jesus’ garment. I felt so humbled that the Troyers, who have not seen nor "known" us for years, would so powerfully trust Jesus for my healing.

And I thought of you.

I thought of you who have called and written or commented on my blog that you, too, are praying. I thought of Sandi H’s comments a few days where she and others were being my rope holders. You, too, touched the hem of Jesus, or maybe, like Sandi, chose to be a "rope holder."

There are no words that can express my appreciation to you. I wish I could reach though the computer that journals these thoughts and look you in the eyes and say, "Thank-you, I appreciate you," and "the prayer of the righteous availeth much."

Today, my left eye sees! It does not see normal, but it sees. For example, when this infarct (clot) process began, I could only see light and NO distinguishing of detail (even large detail) at all. My vision prior to this event was probably close to 20/30 without any treatment. At my first visit, I could barely see the large E and that only with great distortion. Last week’s visit, I could the second E with distortion.

Today I can read the large print on a Pepsi can or the words on our Turbo Tax box. I can see the 8x10 facial picture of Samuel that hangs in his room. I can read my plastic cup that says "Emory Healthcare" with print that is approximately ½ inch high. I can read most of the Starbucks on my coffee cup. I can read the cover of a book! I could go on and on!!!

I still have a lot of distortion in small print (like my computer) but I am certain that God IS ABLE for these as well. My balance is still slightly affected as well but God IS ABLE!

So for today, I want to share this blessed news with you. Please continue to pray that the doctors would be amazed at this progress, and I will be able to share how God has answered prayer! To God be the Glory GREAT things he has done!

OH AMY, I am so grateful to GOD for your progress. I am reading Max Lucado's book 3:16 The Numbers of Hope. Today is 3/16 and it was no coincidence that God worked on this day. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son so that AMY might have eternal life." Love, LINDA

Oh Amy, What great news! Our service this morning hit pretty close to home with where you are right now and how God is with us even in trials. I thought of you and when he said that when you are in a crisis situation is not the time to figure out what you believe I was thankful that we have a firm foundation and know what we believe so that when life happens (and it will at some point) that we know Whom to lean on. God bless you my friend and I am SO thankful to God for his healing touch in your life!

You don't know me, I go to church with your brother in law, Tim, and his family. I have read several blogs that have requested prayer for you and I have been praying for you and trying to keep up with your progress. I am so thankful to God for His touch on your eyes. We will continue to pray! Vonnie Bryan
Amy, as I read your post I had goosebumps! God is so amazing! I am so excited to read this good news and hope and pray that you continue to heal. I was trying to tell Steve about it and could hardly get through it because of my tears. This incident reminds me once again of what an incredible Healer we serve.

Oh, Amy, my heart is so full of praise to God. I am overwhelmed by his goodness. This morning I opened my Bible to Psalm 116:1 "I love the Lord, for he heard my voice; he heard my cry for mercy."
vs.7 " Be at rest once more, O my soul, for the Lord has been good to you." May God continue to strengthen and touch you.

Praise The Lord!! He has heard the cry of His people and is answering prayer!! Reading your post today made me again think of my wife's life verse Jeremiah 29:11
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." He has not forgotten you, nor will He ever!! We will continue to pray that your eyesight will get better and that the Lord and His awesome power will be seen through you by your doctors.

Homeschooling Curriculum Help?

Shannon is hosting a backwards edition of what-works-for-me Wednesday , where you can ask for advice/ or suggestions instead of giving them. Yeah! I need some advice. David and I are really praying and considering homeschooling our boys, K4 and grades 2 and 6 —beginning this fall. Can anybody recommend a curriculum, either as a whole or as a subject, that you are crazy about that doesn’t make you crazy? Secondly, if you could give one tip for “survival” what would that be?

February 27 Update

I just called to see if Amy wanted to blog anything today, but at the moment she is talking on the phone to her wonderful friend, Deb Rose. Deb and her husband, Brian, used to live in Louisville several years ago. They were our very best friends. If I were talking to the Roses this evening, I would tell them that Amy is desperately scared. The docs have given her a very stiff dose of antibiotics, but as of this moment, her body temp is climbing once again. Her primary doctor told her he fears that this infection may be fungal in nature. I don’t completely understand all of the implications, except that we are shooting at this infection with our biggest guns, but it just keeps on coming. In her introspective manner, she shared with me today that if she had known she would lose her sight, she would have invested it more wisely in the things she read and watched: “What if I go completely blind and can’t read the Bible? I have to get more serious about memorizing.” This morning a do

Amy does not feel well enough to blog today, so the sub is blogging on her behalf. Yesterday Amy thought she saw some new spots in her left eye and felt that she was experiencing some of the same sensations that she had during her stroke, so she went to the doctor. He said that he sees no new lesions, but that doesn’t mean that she couldn’t have another stroke. He recommended that she begin steroids to reduce any retinal inflammation. Amy continues to need your prayers. Blessings, David
