Generally speaking over the last few weeks, I have dreaded going to see the doc—any doc! But today, I was so excited to see the retinal specialist and "show off’ how well my left eye is doing.
Fortunately I just had to wait a few minutes before the tech called my name and took me back to begin the process of examining and dilating my eyes. As normal, she had me cover my right eye. I could read the "E." She scrolled down and I said, "I can see the "E" and the letters beside it." "Go ahead," she said. I kept moving down the line until it became too difficult in the dark and so she handed me a card with more letters/numbers to read.
I read letter after letter.
When the doc came in, he said, "This is impressive; you read one letter from the 20/40 line!!"
I think I read almost all correctly from the 20/50 line—not bad for a girl who could only read a "E" 2 weeks ago!!
On the visual exam, the doctor noted that the "spots" are smaller. He also did another test that measures the retina and the abnormality that was there a week ago is gone—Thank you, God!
He did order another round of Prednisone (less potent) for any residual swelling and inflammation.
I pray that this experience so imprints my heart that I will follow the instruction of Deuteronomy 4:9: "Only be careful, and watch yourselves closely so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them slip from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and to their children after them."
